SENIOR Capstone
FRENCH LANGUAGE DIPLOMACY AS SOFT POWER
My senior capstone explores how the French language operates as a diplomatic tool of soft power. Through historical research, contemporary analysis, interviews, and creative storytelling, I uncover how language shapes identity and political influence in ways often overlooked. French has long been a symbol of prestige, intellect, and diplomacy and this project examines why, tracing its role from colonial history to today’s geopolitics, across elite institutions and grassroots movements.
This research lives on a multimedia website, where each section explores a different facet of French language diplomacy. You can navigate it like a book or jump to what interests you most. Every visual element (i.e. photography, videography, and illustrations) is my own, designed to make complex themes more accessible. My goal is to offer a fresh perspective on how France’s culture and identity continues to shape global politics.

The subtle details often go unseen. Yet, the textures, glances, and moments are fragments of a larger narrative. Take a glimpse into the everyday and the extraordinary that has illustrated our world.

BLOG
I don’t just study the world. I go out and experience it. This blog captures real stories and local perspectives, exploring the layers of life and culture in each place I visit. With that being said, let’s take a closer look at what shapes our world, and the people behind it.
“No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn’t know it.”
